A kids club in Moorends has benefited from scheme that uses cash from carrier bag sales to fund local community causes.
Marshland Happy Days have received a donation from One Stop in Moorends that has enabled them to buy a new portable craft unit along with extra craft materials for use within their children’s clubs.
The money has come from the One Stop store’s ‘Carriers for Causes’ scheme; an initiative that uses the money raised from carrier bag charges to enable stores to donate to local projects which aim to benefit the local community.
Happy Days Managing Director, Martin Hookway, thanked One Stop for their “generous donation”, saying: “The craft unit allows all of our craft materials to be stored in one area rather than in various storerooms and drawers around the setting, this allows children free access to craft resources.
“The unit has not only provided valuable storage space but has also defined a designated craft area in the club. This has renewed a lot of children’s creative sides with the craft tables now being fully utilised.
“We also had money left over to purchase extra craft resources which were greatly appreciated”.
A spokesperson for One Stop said: “One Stop is proud to be able to support local groups within our communities from the Carriers For Causes carrier bag fund.
“We believe that reinvesting back into our communities helps to support the smaller charities and groups who can miss out on funding.
“Moorends store in Doncaster is right at the heart of our local community and we think it is wonderful to see our customers’ money going back into our local area.”
