Detectives are investigating after a 75-year-old man was assaulted and left with a broken arm and facial fractures.
The elderly man is said to have confronted two men stood by his outbuildings before being assaulted by the men.
The incident happened in Moorends in the early hours of this morning, Monday 7 January.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “At around 3.45am, it was reported that the victim, who lives on East Gate Walk, confronted two men who were stood by his outbuildings.
“The two men are then said to have assaulted the victim, leaving him with a wound to his head, a broken arm and facial fractures.
“He was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.”
Police say enquiries remain ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 70 of 7 January 2019.
