Thorne A614 fly-over is to be closed over three nights in August to allow essential maintenance work to take place.
Work on the A614 South Parade road bridge will be carried out on three successive evenings starting at 10.00pm, with engineers working through the night until 6:00am the following morning. The bridge will be closed from South Parade’s junction with Plantation Road to its junction with Kirton Lane.
Dates and times of the full closures are as follows:
- Tuesday 22 August 22:00 until 06:00 Wednesday 23 August
- Wednesday 23 August 22:00 until 06:00 Thursday 24 August
- Thursday 24 August 22:00 until 06:00 Friday 25 August
During the closure traffic will be diverted via Junction 6 of the M18 to Junction 1 of the M180 and on to Tudworth Road (A614) roundabout. Vehicles which are prohibited from the motorway network will be routed along Selby Road and Oak Lane towards Sykehouse, then through Kirkhouse Green into Stainforth and onto Kirton Lane before rejoining the the A614 (Hatfield Road).
A spokesperson for Doncaster Council said the work had been planned to minimise the impact of the closure: “By carrying out the works in the school summer holidays and restricting the closures to overnight mid-week, we hope to minimise any disruption caused”.
Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be managed on site for the duration of the closures, either via the pedestrian bridge over the canal or via escort over the road bridge. Signs warning of the closure will be erected two weeks beforehand.
