Villagers are bidding for funding to help revitalise their local playing field.
Fishlake Playing Field Group are bidding for £5,000 from the Calor Rural Community Fund towards a project to re-equip and improve their local green space.
The original playing field group was formed nearly two decades ago and now a new generation of parents have come together to make improvements to the playing field which is situated off Pinfold Lane in Fishlake. The committee is made up of local residents with the support of the Fishlake Parish Council.
On their online bid page, the group says: “For families, the main meeting places within walking distance are the playing field and village hall. In recent years, the play equipment at Fishlake Playing Field has fallen into disrepair and the majority of equipment has been removed”.
“Our plans include adding new play equipment, picnic benches and working with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to enhance nature conservation through the creation of wildflower meadow and tree planting”.
The group add that their initial intention is to purchase a climbing frame tractor but they hope to make other improvements as well: “Subject to any subsequent funds raised by community sponsorship or crowdfunding our wish list includes a zip wire, picnic benches, accessible roundabout, replacement slide and environmental enrichment, such as wildflower meadows, bee/insect houses and tree planting.”
