A man who sadly died after a collision in Thorne on Saturday 20 January has today been named by Police as Peter Best.
The 60-year-old pedestrian, who lived in the Thorne area, was taken to hospital after the collision with a blue BMW on Field Road, close to the junction with St Nicholas Road at 7.30pm.
He sadly died five days later.
Officers are continuing to investigate the collision and would ask that anyone who saw what happened, or who has any information, to call 101 quoting incident number 955 of 20 January 2018.
Mr Best, a retired firefighter, was a well known figure locally. He was a former Mayor of Thorne and Moorends and was also known for his work with local charitable organisations.
