A new music festival is set to rock Thorne with an amazing line up of acts that includes headliners U2-2 and rock band Oliver/Dawson Saxon.
Thorne Beer, Sausage & Music Festival takes place at Staniland Marina over the weekend of Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th July where there will be a fantastic line-up from 12 noon onwards on both days, with U2-2 headlining Saturday evening and Oliver/Dawson Saxon on Sunday evening.
Other bands confirmed are Coyote, Gordon’s Alive, Saints Among Us, Peacekeeperz, Wrooted, Leon Pashley, Acko Pulco & The Cliff Divers, Dark Lightning, Martin Black, Mad About Mandy & In My Restless Dreams.
Headliners Oliver/Dawson Saxon feature Graham Oliver and Steve Dawson, both founder members of the British heavy metal band Saxon, whilst U2-2, who first formed in 1992 under the name ‘Achtung Baby’ describe themselves as the UK’s longest running, ‘premier’ U2 tribute band.
A spokesperson for the festival, which is supporting local charity Autism Plus, said: “We will be featuring a host of local new talent and established rock and pop acts throughout the weekend and it promises to be one blast of a weekend.
“Having secured sponsorship from Molson Coors/Carling we will be offering a great range of beers and lagers from our outside bars. Gourmet sausages will also be available at the event from Not Your Average Sausage Company”.
Camping and tickets are now available. The spokesperson added: “The camp site is a two minute walk away from the festival site and is restricted to 50 tents. Parking is available on-site and in the local area. Please note that there are no facilities on the camping site but ticket holders will have access to the marina showers and toilets.
“Tickets are sold on a first come first served basis”.
Tickets for the event are available online through skiddle.com HERE and also from Staniland Marina itself and the Autism Plus Shop on Field Road in Thorne. Limited tickets may also be available on the day depending on advance sales.
The marina is easily accessible from the M18 (only two minutes off) and Thorne North Train Station is a five minute walk away.
