Doncaster East Neighbourhood Police have put out an alert following a spike in vehicle crime in the Thorne area.
Officers have issued a warning about theft from vehicles via the South Yorkshire Police alerts community messaging system.
Vans and cars have reportedly been targeted with items being stolen and damage being caused to some vehicles.
The message from neighbourhood officers reads: “We have had a sudden rise in the number of reports of thefts and attempted thefts from both vehicles and gardens over the last few days. Local PCSOs will be about over the next few days and evenings to visit as many victims as possible and gathering evidence.
“If you have any information and would like to speak with officers please let us know via the 101 service or an online report and officers will get to you as soon as possible.”
