Work has started to clear an area to allow a site survey on land earmarked for development.
The work, next to Peel Hill Motte and the Quaker Burial Ground in Thorne, is being carried out to conduct a topographical survey for a planned development nearby, including an area where a new path is proposed next to the burial ground.
The path will form part of an extra care housing development, which is proposed for land off Church Street/rear of King Street.
The town council say that to allow the survey to take place, say some shrubbery will be removed to allow access to the site: “This will be plant material that would need clearing anyway to carry out the development”, said the town clerk.
It is anticipated that the approval of detailed plans for the 72 home housing scheme will be considered by the planning committee at Doncaster Council later this month (Tues 26 July).
