Thorne Family Support Group, provide sport & leisure activities for people with special needs and have an abundance of things happening for you to enjoy, including: –
Monday evenings, 6.30 -7pm, Swimming, Thorne Leisure Centre – Pool time
Wednesday evenings, 5.45 – 8.15pm, Youth Club, Bowls in the summer on the green. There are different speakers at the youth club; animals are brought in by Sams Safari, boat clubs, board games, darts and games etc….
Friday evening, 6 -8pm, Boccia – they are in a league which is Boccia England.
Saturday mornings 10.30am – 12 noon, Football. Affiliated to Moorends Hornets football teams
All the Wednesday, Friday and Saturday sessions are held at Coulman Sports Pavillion, Coulman Street, Thorne.
Sundays, Football Tournaments, Coulman Rec, Thorne. They belong to the West Riding football league.
Thorne Family Support Group belongs to the Special Olympics for people with learning difficulties in boccia, football, swimming and kurling.
Pamper days for carers are available, which are enjoyed thoroughly, as are carer information days where lunch is provided, please ask for details.
Trips to the theatre, circus, coast and educational trips are plentiful.
This is a family group where brothers and sisters are welcome to join in the many events including: Rotary sports days, Lions fun days and local galas.
Any donation of prizes to raffle off to raise funds is always appreciated.
