Moorends cyclist Connor Swift has been chosen to ride for his team, Madison Genesis, in the upcoming Tour of Britain race.
Connor is one of six riders chosen by Madison Genesis Team Manager, Mike Northey, to take on eight days and 1313 kilometres of racing across England, Scotland and Wales.
The Madison Genesis manager said: “The Tour of Britain will be our final and most important race of 2017 and the team I’ve selected reflects that.
“The young age of the team shows our commitment to developing talent and giving those who show potential the opportunity to compete at the highest level.
“We’ve also got some great experience in there, with Johnny and Rich capable of getting into breaks and making the most of the huge level of exposure that Britain’s longest stage race attracts.”
Connor, who recently won the Leicester Grand Prix, said via his twitter account, @SwiftConnor, that he is “super happy” to be selected to ride in his first Tour of Britain and “can’t wait to get going”.
A spokesperson for Madison Genesis added: “With three wins so far this year, Swift has had the perfect debut season. He has a vicious turn of speed and strength and although nobody knows what he is capable of over a week-long race, to count him out of doing something special would be an error”.
The Tour of Britain is the largest professional bike race in the UK, with 20 of the World’s top teams competing.
The race starts this Sunday, 3 September, and will be shown live on TV. For the route details visit: www.tourofbritain.co.uk
