The annual Thorne & Moorends Remembrance Sunday service and parade will take place on Sunday 10 November 2019 at Thorne Memorial Park, South Parade; and afterward at St Nicholas Parish Church, Stonegate, Thorne.
This year’s parade, led by the Thorne & District branch of the Royal British Legion, will start to assemble at 10.30am on Sunday in Thorne Memorial Park.
At 10.50am, a service led by the Reverend David Green will take place at the Cenotaph in the park. This will be followed by a two-minute silence at 11.00am. Town Mayor Cllr Mark Houlbrook will then lay a wreath on behalf of the people of Thorne & Moorends.
After the laying of wreaths by local residents, businesses, organisations and schools a parade will march to St Nicholas’ church on Stonegate where a remembrance service will take place at 12.00 noon.
A service of remembrance will also be held in Moorends during Sunday’s 3.00pm mass at St Wilfrith’s Church on West Road.
