They also have a strong volunteer admin & I.T team working away in the background helping to keep the music flowing for their listeners.
TMCR is on air 24 hours a day 7 days a week, with live shows 7am – 9pm daily. The studio itself, at the Winning Post, Moorends, has had a systems upgrade and cosmetic facelift, with help from The Thorne Moorends Town Council. They now have a warm and inviting studio not only for their presenters, but for their visitors too.
They support local charities by raising awareness in the community, often doing interviews with groups such as autism plus. The SeC centre at Coulman Road often pay them regular visits to the studio to update them on their progress.
TMCR have live on air interviews, not only with local bands, The Town Clerk and the Police, but also share other local interest stories. Thorne local Gwyn, whose recent conversion of the old cinema in Thorne which featured on Grand Designs came to the studio and gave them an in-depth interview. They also have live on air at the venue, local Thorne Colliery match coverage, so there is no excuse for missing your local team’s results.
The station run weekly competitions, which you can enter by phone, text or email. These are changing all the time with some super prizes, such as those kindly donated by The Dome, St Ledger and the Wildlife Park. You need to be in it to win it, so get dialling, texting and emailing!
TMCR offer regular local and Sky news centre national news bulletins, weather reports, traffic, train and even real time air travel updates, throughout the day. So if you have a trip to make, tune in to the station so you can amend your journey to avoid any annoying delay hot spots.
TMCR are available with a full PA system for your local event at reasonable rates. They can also advertise your business live on air at competitive rates, with charity events advertised for little or no cost, so give TMCR a call. If you know of a local event that’s coming up, why not tell them so they can tell others in the community what’s on. They also encourage people to ring into the studio if they see an accident, traffic jam or hazzard, so we can tell people to temporarily avoid these areas.
If you want to make a request for yourself, a friends, or a loved one’s special occasion, or further information on advertising your business or event, you can simply phone, (01405 818081) text, (81400), or email, (firstname.lastname@example.org), at the studio and get your own personal announcement read live on air by one of their presenters.
The station are always on the lookout for new presenters who can bring their own lively personalities to the air waves. So if you are aged 18 – 80, with a few hours to spare on a regular basis, with an interest in music, and are willing to be trained in a studio environment, don’t hesitate to contact them. You could be presenting your own music show to the community, before you know it!
