Thorne Moorends Town Council is encouraging local residents to dress their homes and enter a ‘best-dressed property’ competition ahead of the upcoming UCI world cycling championships.
The town council is calling out to residents of Thorne and Moorends, offering them the chance to decorate their properties with a cycling theme and enter a competition to win a £100 voucher. £50 vouchers are to be given as prizes for second and third place.
To enter, residents are asked to take a photograph of their cycling-themed decorated home and send it to the town council along with their name, address and contact number.
A spokesperson for Thorne Moorends Town Council said: “Yorkshire has in recent years established itself as the centre of cycling here in the UK if not the world. With Thorne set to welcome cyclists as part of a world-class race for the first time, let’s show the world as the television cameras pass through what Thorne can do and truly make it a day to remember.”
The deadline for entries is Monday 16 September 2019. For further details contact Thorne Moorends Town Council on 01405 818015.
