Doncaster MBC Councillors for Thorne & Moorends Ward have suspended surgeries due to the ongoing coronavirus situation.
Ward councillors normally offer face-to-face meetings once a month for residents to discuss council related issues and other matters of concern.
As government advice is asking people to stay at home other than for some limited essential reasons, ward surgeries have been suspended but councillors say they can still be contacted by telephone or email.
A statement released by Thorne & Moorends ward councillors said: “These are unusual times and we know that many of you will have concerns and questions following the Government’s recommendation to restrict our social interactions in an attempt to slow the spread of Covid-19 and protect the most vulnerable in our community.
“We cannot emphasise enough, how important it is that each of us carefully follows the guidance given to us by the Government. Well will recover from this pandemic but it will be a team effort and we need your co-operation.
“In these difficult times, be assured that your DMBC Councillors are here to help in any way we can. Do not hesitate to contact us by telephone if you require any assistance or would like any further information.
The statement continues: “We have an incredible community in Thorne and Moorends. At times like this it is more important than ever that we come together and support each other.
“Many in our community will be key workers; whether NHS staff, Police and emergency service workers, Teachers and others who are providing frontline services in our shops and other businesses.
“We thank you for your commitment to safeguarding this community.”
