Fire News In Brief – April 2022

Sunday 24 April
Two fire crews from Thorne and Adwick stations were called out to a commercial vehicle on fire at 1:25am on Westfield Road, Fishlake. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately, according to South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service. Crew left the scene at 2:10am.
Also on Sunday (24 April), firefighters from Thorne station attended a car that was set on fire at 3:50am on Broadway, Dunscroft. They left at 4:25am and the incident was logged as ‘deliberate’.
Wednesday 20 April
Thorne firefighters attended a wheelie bin fire at 7:45pm on New Park Estate, Stainforth. The crew left the scene at 8:10pm. South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire is not known.
Tuesday 19 April
At 8:55pm a fire crew from Thorne station attended a fire in a children’s play area off Darlington Grove, Moorends. A swing had been ‘deliberately’ set on fire, according to South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service. The crew left the scene at 9:10pm.
Sunday 17 April
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service say ‘several’ fire crews attended a moorland fire at 9:55pm on Thorne Moors. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately. Crews left the scene at 8:10am.
Sunday 10 April
A van was set on fire at 1:40am on Moss Road, Kirkhouse Green. Firefighters from Thorne station attended the incident. They left at 2:30am and the incident was logged as deliberate.
Sunday 3 April
Firefighters from Thorne station were called out to a vehicle fire at 8:55pm on Cowick Road, Fishlake. The crew left the scene at 10pm with South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service logging the incident as deliberate.
Thorne firefighters then attended another fire in Fishlake (Sun 3 Apr), at 10:20pm on Sour Lane. This incident involved compost and was logged as accidental. The crew came away at 11pm.
