Fire News In Brief – September 2020
Monday 28 September
Playground furniture was ‘deliberately’ set on fire at 8:40pm on Station Road, Stainforth, according to South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service. Firefighters from Thorne station attended the incident. They came away at 9:05pm.
Sunday 27 September
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said a car was ‘deliberately’ set on fire at 11:25pm on Princess Avenue, Stainforth. Thorne firefighters attended the incident and left the scene at 11:45pm.
Saturday 26 September
Thorne firefighters were called out to a Vauxhall car fire at 9pm on Saturday at Station Road, Dunscroft. The fire is believed to have started accidentally, according to South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service. The crew left at 9:35pm.
Also on Saturday (26 Sept), two fire crews from Thorne and Doncaster stations attended a shed fire at 2pm on Princess Avenue, Stainforth. South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was ‘deliberate’ and that the crews left at 2:45pm.
Tuesday 22 September
Firefighters from Thorne station were called to Cherry Tree Grove, Dunscroft, at 11.20pm. Upon arrival they found a shed fire that had already been put out. A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “This is thought to have started with a discarded cigarette setting light to some paper in a bucket, and spreading to the shed”. The crew left the scene at 11.39pm.
Monday 21 September
Firefighters from Thorne station were called to Pinfold Lane, Thorne, at 8.39pm. South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service say that , upon arrival, they found a pile of fly tipped waste well alight. This was said to have been dealt with by 9.15pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.
Thursday 17 September
Thorne firefighters attended a rubbish fire at 8:55pm on Carr Side Lane, Hatfield. The crew left the scene at 9:15pm. South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was ‘deliberate’.
Wednesday 16 September
Four fire crews from Thorne, Doncaster and Adwick stations attended a bungalow fire at 3am on Queen Street, Thorne. South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said there are no reports of any injuries and that the fire is currently under investigation. Firefighters left the scene at 4:40am.
At 6:35am (Weds 16 Sept) Thorne firefighters attended what is said to have been a ‘deliberate’ grass fire on Lock Lane, Thorne. They left the scene at 7:05am.
Thursday 10 September
Firefighters from Thorne station were called out to a sofa which had been deliberately set on fire on wasteland at 7:45pm on Sheep Dip Lane, Dunscroft. South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the crew left the scene at 8pm.
Monday 7 September
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said a HGV was ‘accidentally’ on fire at 6am on Bawtry Road, Hatfield Woodhouse. The crew attending left at 6:25am.
Sunday 6 September
At 10pm a fire crew from Thorne station was called out to a rubbish fire on Alexandra Street, Thorne. The crew left at 10:20pm and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was ‘deliberate’.
