The first police and council community engagement event of 2022 in Thorne and Moorends has been called off due to coronavirus concerns.
The event, where members of the public meet with the East neighbourhood police team and East area safer communities officers, has been cancelled after advice from Public Health.
Inspector Alison Carr said: “The advice is not to attend face to face meetings due to risk from the Omicron variant of Covid 19.”
The engagement meeting was scheduled to be held at the Miners Welfare & Community Development Centre, on West Road in Moorends, on Thursday 6 January.
The cancellation comes after December’s meeting was called off due to a lack of available staff.
Inspector Carr added: “I will let you know as soon as we can start holding the events again.”
