A monthly round-up from the Friends of Quarry Park, Dunsville:
On Friday 4 September Friends of Quarry Park were able to hold their second volunteer work party since Lockdown restrictions were eased.
Six volunteers worked alongside a DMBC countryside ranger to make further inroads into outstanding work. They cleaned out paths leading into the zip wire dip; the dip and ‘moat’ area were generally tidied up from overgrowth and debris and three bags of litter were collected. Overhanging branches were cut back on nearby paths.
Volunteers worked socially distanced observing Covid-19 guidance.
There will be a second work party this month on Friday 18 September when the Friends will take part in the countrywide Keep Britain Tidy ‘Great British September Clean’. This replaces the Great British Spring Clean which had to be postponed due to Covid-19. As this has to be run with DMBC support and following strict Covid-19 guidelines, to keep both volunteers and the public safe, it is only open to members of the Friends group.
Friends of Quarry Park are proud of their record with litter picking and are very grateful to all the Quarry Park users who regularly help to pick up litter on their daily walks, it has made a great difference over the last few months.
