The name of a young woman from Thorne, who tragically died aged just eighteen, has been immortalised on an Eddie Stobart lorry thanks to one of her close friends.
Lauren Reeder came up with the idea as a gesture from herself to her cherished friend, Kim Chapman. The name ‘Kimmy’ now adorns the cab of a brand new Stobart lorry, that will go round the UK delivering vehicles on behalf of the company.
Said Lauren “I wanted Kim’s name on it to keep her memory alive, and as a personal gift from me to her.”
Lauren, a Stobart employee said the company supported her throughout the hard times when Kim sadly passed away. “They knew how much she meant to me, so I asked if we could get her name on a truck when we got some new ones, when the new registrations came out.”
Stobarts has a long tradition of giving its trucks female names, and has its own fan club where fans are able to get information about the new trucks, and the names on them. ‘Spotters’ keep books where they write down all the names and numbers from the side of the cabs, when they see them out and about on the roads.
Lauren said: “I’m very proud to work for Stobarts and I’m truly grateful for them doing this for me, and for Kim and her family. I just wanted to keep her memory alive and do something special.”
