Thorne Rural Lions have been forced to postpone some of their Santa sleigh dates due to coronavirus related complications.
The Lions were set to start their annual sleigh rounds today (Weds 1 Dec) but instead issued a statement informing people of the changes to their schedule.
A spokesperson for Thorne Rural Lions said earlier today: “Unfortunately due to the updated rules from Monday’s national covid update, illnesses and other complications dates for the sleigh routes have been postponed up until the coming Monday.”
The spokesperson added the Lions hoped to be back on the routes from Monday 6 December but said they could not cannot guarantee that at this time.
They continued: “Please do remember that all the Lions and helpers are volunteers. We thrive on being out in the community, the sleigh is a huge part of our year and the month of December helps our club throughout the year. There isn’t a single date in December that we don’t look forward to seeing the joy that Santa brings to children, adults, the elderly and even waving dogs.
“Hopefully on Monday we can get back out in the community with the sleigh. We thank everyone for their understanding and hope to see you all soon.”
The sleigh was due to start in Stainforth tonight from around 6.00pm.
