Vandalism and antisocial behaviour is on the agenda again when Thorne Moorends Town Council meet this month.
Town councillors are set to discuss recent vandalism at Moorends Recreation Ground when they meet on Tuesday (9 Nov). It is the second time this year that vandalism and antisocial behaviour has been on the agenda, having also been discussed at June’s meeting.
Play equipment and council property has been vandalised recently with the cost of the damage estimated at ‘thousands of pounds’. In October, a ‘nest’ style swing was set on fire at the play park at Moorends recreation ground. This follows an incident earlier in the year when a trampoline was damaged. Councillors will be asked to consider making security improvements to the site.
Other agenda items include a request to display a commercial advertising banner on railings at Thorne Memorial Park and a review of cemetery closing times. Council members will also be asked to review the results of internal and external audit reports.
Regular items such as planning matters and finances are also on the agenda.
The meeting starts at 7.00pm (Tues 9 Nov) in the pavilion at Coulman Street recreation ground. Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting and have the opportunity to make representations to the council in relation to items on the agenda.
