Saturday sees a charity event at Thorne rugby club in support of autism awareness.
A select side from Thornensians will take on Jigsaws Rugby, a charitable team dedicated to raising awareness for autism.
At last year’s event over £4000 was raised with the majority having gone towards a specialist school in Doncaster. Organisers Jigsaws are hoping to beat that amount this year.
The event takes place at Thorne Rugby Club, Church Balk, on Saturday 28 October and three teams will play on the day: two junior sides – u12s and u14s – and a senior side. The juniors kick-off at 12.30pm and the senior match gets underway at 2.30pm.
A raffle and auction along with ‘fun and games’ will take place in the clubhouse afterwards with the rugby World Cup final between New Zealand and South Africa also being shown at 8pm.
