Thorne’s Trinity Academy have partnered with Wheatley Hills Tennis Club, South Yorkshire Sport and the Lawn Tennis Assocaiation (LTA) to give people in the area an opportunity to play tennis within their local community.
To introduce the new tennis club, the academy is hosting a Great British Tennis Day where mini tennis, beginner tennis, family play, adult tennis and cardio tennis are all on offer. The event, to be held at the academy on Saturday June 21st between 2pm & 4pm, is a free, fun day open to all ages and ability. All equipment is provided.
Myles Collett, Wheatley Hills Tennis Club Head Coach, is enthusiastic about the new venture and said “This is a fantastic development for tennis in Thorne. The tennis programme on the school courts will have something for everyone from tots to vets and beginners to experienced players.”
A coaching programme is being developed so youngsters can learn the basics through mini tennis and teenagers can improve their skills.
Myles goes on to say “The tennis programme at Trinity Academy is brand new so we’re happy to develop sessions that local people want. If adults want coaching then we can put on a session, if cardio tennis is more popular then we’ll put a session on.”
